Privacy policy

• When you order: your name, email, phone number and any note you leave, what you bought, and your pickup day.
• If you make an account: your name, email and a scrambled (hashed) copy of your password, plus your sign-in settings.
• Card details: these go straight to Square, our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.
• When you visit: like most websites, our server records technical details such as your IP address and browser, to keep the site secure and fix problems.

• To get your order ready and hand it over at the barn.
• To email your order confirmation and a reminder on your pickup day (you can turn reminders off).
• To call you if something's wrong with your order.
• To keep the records we need for our books and taxes.
• To protect the store from fraud and misuse.

We send farm news only if you ask for it, by ticking the box at checkout or in your account. It comes about once a month, and every email has an unsubscribe link.

Only with the companies that help us run the Farm Store, and only what each one needs:

• Square, which takes payments and records orders.
• Resend, which delivers our emails, including farm news if you've signed up.
• The services that host and back up this website and alert us when something breaks.

Some of these companies store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to local law. We never sell or rent your information.

We use only the cookies the site needs to work: one that keeps you signed in and keeps checkout secure, a security token, and one that remembers your basket. Square's card form sets its own cookies to help prevent fraud.

There are no advertising or tracking cookies. We count page visits on our own server, without recording who you are.

• A basket: 14 days after it last changed.
• Your name, email, phone and note on an order: 2 years after its pickup day, then they're erased. What was bought and the amounts stay in our books.
• Your account: until you delete it.
• The record of when you signed up for farm news, or unsubscribed: 3 years after you unsubscribe.

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, unless we need to keep it for our books. Email us and we'll answer within 30 days.

With an account, you can change your details or delete your account yourself, and choose which emails you get.

If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

The site only works over an encrypted connection. Phone numbers and order notes are encrypted in our database, and staff need a second step to sign in.
